“GitHub issues mean you're surveilling contributors!”
What You Say
GitHub issues are a public bug tracker — the same system Linux, Python, and NASA use for transparent development. Submitting a correction with citations is voluntary; email works too. Issues create an auditable trail so fixes aren't lost in DMs. Surveillance is harvesting private data without consent. Public issue threads with primary sources are accountability infrastructure.
The Stab
FOIA requests aren't surveillance either.
