Socialism means government ownership of the means of production. Democrats support capitalism with a social safety net — Social Security, Medicare, public schools. Every developed nation has public healthcare and education; that doesn't make them Venezuela. When Republicans call popular programs 'socialist,' they're trying to scare you away from policies that benefit you.
